The Basic Rubber Mat is designed for use in high traffic areas under playground equipment to limit the loss and displacement of loose fill kick out areas on the playground. The rubber surface of each mat offers shock attenuation, long wear, accessibility, and low maintenance. Each mat is 2 inches thick. Various sizes are available for specific uses. The six-foot long mat works best with swings. The smaller mats work well with slides and climbers. Unlike many of our other swing mats, the Basic Rubber Mat does not include beveled edges and should be buried level with the surfacing to eliminate a tripping hazard. Many beveled edge swing mats are available at a slightly higher cost and do not require any burying.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size basic rubber swing slide deck mat do I need for my playground equipment?
Choose the 6-foot long mat for swing sets to cover the fall zone where children jump off. Smaller mats work for slides and climber exit points where loose fill surfacing gets kicked away. Each mat is 2 inches thick and must be buried flush with your existing surfacing to prevent tripping hazards.
How do basic rubber mats compare to beveled edge swing mats for installation?
Basic rubber mats require excavation and burying to sit level with your surfacing material. Beveled edge mats cost slightly more but sit on top of surfacing without any digging. Most buyers choose beveled edge mats to avoid the labor cost of excavation and achieve immediate installation.
Do rubber playground mats meet safety requirements for impact attenuation under equipment?
Yes, these 2-inch thick rubber mats provide shock attenuation that meets playground safety standards for fall protection. They also create an accessible surface that wheelchairs and mobility devices can traverse, unlike loose fill materials that shift and create barriers.
